San Pedro de Atacama

We headed into town today with the intention of renting a bike and cycling out to 'Death Valley' not as scary as it sounds but apparently nothing can grow out there, but we've a huge window of time tomorrow before our bus so we'll take in the sights of the '"City centre" today.

The town isn't very big, infact it's a couple of streets and from what I can see there major industry seems to be tourism with floods of bike rental shops, sandboarding trips and various other excursions. Alot of the tours are one's we will be doing from Bolivia anyway so we don't need to worry about missing anything here.

So it's that time for food again..I treated myself to a Chilean artery clogger 'Bife Polone' which consists of rice, chips, beef, onion and a fried egg on top...just what the doctor ordered.

After that we headed towards the cemetery and the old town, before heading to the local church to say a prayer after we learned of Japans plight and how we could have been among the victims.....it puts things into perspective.

We headed back to the same place we ate in last night, only this was to sample the legend that is a Pisco Sour, for those of you who don't know how to use Google, a Pisco Sour is a cocktail containing pisco, lemon or lime juice, egg whites, simple syrup, and bitters....and it's bloody strong, 3 pisco sours later coupled with the altitude we called it a day and headed back so I can fix this bloody temperamental laptop!
