Goodbye Arequipa

Well we headed out for some Peruvian cuisine today, booked out tickets to Ica and headed to the Irish pub for a game of pool and a coke! Didn't want to even smell the place after Paddy's day but Tina dragged me in. We had a couple of games of pool and then spent the rest of the afternoon chatting to a couple from Dublin we met on Paddy's day. A great day for Ireland in the rugby as well!

We were inside chatting then this parade of people come's marching down the street, it was a bicentenial of some sort from what I gathered from the banners, I missed a few good snaps at the start as the camera was on a still setting but I managed to pull a few good pics from the pile!

Tonight we head on a night bus to Ica and then a taxi to nearby Huacachina, a 15 hour bus journey but it's with one of the 'good' companies (Cruz del sol), when I say good they have 2 drivers that swap every 4 hours, there's been a string of crashes and robberies among the cheaper bus companies so it's worth splashing out that extra few euros. Cruz del sol are pretty on the ball, they scan you with a metal scanner and search your bag before you board the bus and at the start of the journey they videotaped everyones face on the bus...me with my thumbs up, I guess it's to deter any would-be thief from trying anything! Don't worry folks at home, these are a top notch operation!

So armed with a spanish movie subtitled in English, we were given our meals, which consisted of a chicken sandwich or as Tina opted for the vegetarian option, a piece of bread and cheese! See you on the other side!
