Salta to San Pedro de Atacama

Well as I mentioned earlier we had some job getting out of the bed at 5:30 this morning, thankfully we decided to pack before we went to bed. We called a taxi and one arrived about 2 minutes later, on our way to the bus station we were nearly hit by an obviously drunk driver that was nearly asleep behind the wheel. Our taxi man was only inches away from hitting him, thankfully neither driver were going too fast.

We arrived at the bus station and our bus was early thank god..so we put the seats into reclining position and I managed to doze off in and out for 4 hours. Upon wakening I was greeted by wonderful views, everything from llamas, wild west cactus to salt flats, the best I've ever seen and another box of sugary goodness for breakfast...If you lived here any space of time you'd either suffer from angina of the heart or type-2 diabetes...these people have the worst diet ever.

So as you can see below, these are the pictures I took from a bus travelling 100kmph with mucky windows..I am very pleased with my camera! After snapping like an Asian tourist on the bus (I took over 200 pics but deleted 100 of them) we were given our second box of treats...A juice box, chocolate biscuit, ONE sweet and a ham and cheese sandwich which the Israeli people on board the bus didn't look to enthusiastic about!

As we climbed altitude my head began to implode, I've gotten similar migraines on planes before but I was in a bad way for a few hours. Argentinian migration was a breeze in and out within 30 minutes.

A couple of hours later we arrived at the Chilean border and a more thorough search was performed, well the guy unzipped my bag and jammed his fingers around the edges and sent me on my way. We were about to get back on the bus when we spotted a woman holding a sign saying 'Christina Hosback' it was the accommodation we'd booked and the woman was waiting for us at the border, which we later realised was the town of San Pedro be Atacama itself, which is a cool little desert town but very dusty...time to break out the anti-histamine and have a lie down!

After 10 hours of travel we made it.
