Well yesterdays post should be dedicated to our 20 hour bus journey from Bariloche to Mendoza, we took a subsidiary of Andesmar called Tramat, it certainly helps that the buses here have the equivalent of first class plane seats...and thats only in the economy part of the bus! Our seats recline 180 degrees and snacks are served onboard (complimentary), what more can you ask for.
After about 1700km and 20 odd hours we arrived in Mendoza we had a bus number and directions for our accommodation but we just grabbed a taxi..less hassle, everything seems to be more legit here then SE Asia.. I had been put off using taxi's after the multitude of scams that were attempted on me in SE Asia, but here we've used several taxi's here and no problems in the least, so less the 4 US$ to Oasis Hostel and not one bit of hassle!
We were greeted by Aldo (I hope that's spelt right), who has given me the most thorough tour of any accommodation in 6 months! He sat down with us and showed us the hot spots in town and any tours we wanted he could organise, an A1 gentleman!
I couldn't really sleep so I turned to the web to muck about for an hour or 2 while Tina got some sleep, a while later we got up and explored the city sortof, it only rains in Mendoza 5 days a year so it's a bit of an Oasis in it's own sense.
After a while on the beat we decided to try the healthy option and grab some grub from the supermarket, well we got some stuff and it may be healthy but it certainly favours the pocket to eat out in this country!
Tomorrow we'll do the Mr Hugo's 'World Famous' Bike ride around the Mendoza Wineries...we'll see you on the other side.
FOLKS - It was too late too ring tonight so I'll give you a bell tomorrow - possibly merry from the vino!
