We headed out to the wine region of Mendoza to the infamous Mr Hugo, when we got off the bus we were swamped by bike rental places, but we'd made up our mind we were going to Mr Hugos. The bus system is ridiculous it only takes coins and coins are very scarce in Argentina so we only paid for 1 ticket on the way out! Score!
We met an Irish couple getting off the bus and cycled with them for the day, we met 2 Aussie lads as well and we toured the area together...first stop was the Olive, Choclate and Liquer shop....I tried the Absinthe which is 75% Alcohol..not 75 proof but 75%..As far as I know it's banned in Ireland, I have a wee bottle of it in my bag now incase I run out of petrol!
Next it was to the winery just down the road, which was a bit of a disappointment as he didn't even tell us anything about the wine...thumbs down!
Next we headed to another winery Trapiche winery which was probably my favourite winery of the day, a tour of the vineyard and a 3 wine tasting for 25pesos!
After that we headed to the beer garden and polished off a nice pint of stout! And then it was back on the bikes to the next vineyeard which we got lost and nearly didn't make it before closing! 3 glasses of Vino later we headed back to old Mr Hugos and tasted some of his homebrew wine, he's some character and definately recommend going to him! Bow some damage control on the liver!
I forgot to add although the bike tour was good craic, it wasn't for wine connoisseurs, infact the area was abit too industrial for a wine region, plyons and alot of construction...but it was good fun all the same.

You can buy absinthe in the celtic whisky shop, problem is its about €50 a bottle. That and knocknaheen hills "farmers strength" poteen which is 90% abv (not proof) assuming you have sixty quid for a small ish bottle
Yeah I grabbed a nagan of it as I don't want a bottle weighing me down for 2 months, it work out at less then 5euro! The big bottle was less then 20euro and they brewed the absinthe at that spot..
I'll have to pick your brains about some homebrewing when I get back!
