Arequipa

Arequipa - What a cool city - the second biggest in Peru I understand, and has it got heaps of character, from the smallest Taxi's I've ever seen (Little yellow Daewoo's) to an abundance of VW Bettles everywhere, I even managed to shoot a Green, White and Orange VW Bettle in the same shot (but not in that order unfortunately).

The Plaza del armas has the most pigeons I've ever seen and people here are fascinated by the dirty buggers, feeding them, posing for pictures with them, and some even flying on their hands! The square is just one big pigeon shit, there is crap everywhere, but overlooking that it's a pretty nice square.

There is a huge Policia presence here and you can't walk for more then a couple of minutes without spotting one, having said that the place doesn't feel a bit unsafe. It's funny watching the traffic cops here, they'll spot someone they want to check and they'll blow the whistle as the car passes and they'll pull in, although I saw one guy boot off only to be followed by another cop on a bike after!

It's a big difference to Chile & Argentina, here they will tout your business but they are in noways pushy, we went out for a bite to eat with a litre of coke and it cost about 3euro!
