The road to Puno

6am rise this morning, I must admit I didn't have the best sleep in the world....another one of those pesky llama bed spreads!

Got a taxi to the bus terminal, unfortunately I'm lugging 3 heavy bags due to Tinas ankle and at 3400metres altitude it doesn't get must easier. Our bus arrived, we'd read nightmare stories about the buses on this route, but we were sold what appeared to be a nice bus so our hopes were high (We were sold a similar package in Asia only to find a wrecked mini-van to pick us up!)

So what arrives but a brand spanking new Merc bus, we paid the extra EUR 1.50 for the better seats and were they worth it, massive leather reclining armchairs...now thats what it's all about.

We arrived at around 4pm (left at 9am), was a pretty nice journey bar the half an hours journey through unsurfaced road. Got a taxi to our hostel, forst time we'd booked one is ages due to Tinas ankle.

A nice spot near the Plaza del Armas (Main Square), we went out for dinner, the street near us is a bit of a tourist trap and the food is expensive for Peruvian standards, I sat Tina down and went for a wander, this guy from one of the side bars offered me a starter, mains, dessert with a Pisco sour for 15 soles (Less then 4 euro). SOLD! I went back and got Tina, we were initially sceptical about the deal as it seemed too good to be true, either there was hidden charges or the food was going to be dire..Well it was one of the best meals we've had to date, the starters were amazing, I had a baby Alpaca (Why do the cute animals taste so good!) and Tina had a lomo saltado (Beef dish) which actually had presentation, something which is very rare in South America...Absolute bargain...Shout out to Ecco Restaurant, Puno! Mui Bueno!
