Cusco

Last Day in Cusco...we organised our train tickets to Manchu Picchu for Sunday, they had quoted us $40 each dearer then what we expected but that included a bus to a different train station as there was line work going on in Cusco..Fortunately we did our homework and found out a collectivo is $2.50 each to this town..so we´ve a fair chunk of change in our pcokets.

We´ll head tomorrow morning onto our next destination, butn for now were enjoying the bright lights of Cusco. I got my runners shined by some kid, he quoted me 1 sole, then after painting the runners with dulux emulsion asks for 20 soles, little bollocks, I didn´t even want them shined!

Enjoy the pics...Ill have more updates shortly

Cusco.

Well I´m finally up to date!...as I´m now writing todays entry from a web cafe. Tina seems to have gotten over the worst of her bug and is now out and about.

Here´s a few snaps I took this morning. Got to love the J.R Ewing hats the women wear...I was humming the Dallas theme tune as she walked by :) doubt she got the joke!

Cusco

Cusco and fighting the altitude every step of the way, unfortunately it would appear Tina´s got a bad dose of food poisoning so I´m out on my toblerone today.

Cusco is some city it has alot of charm albeit a bit touristy..but hell I like it, went to source a part for my laptop found a massive computer bazaar but none of them had the part I needed, I was brought to different shops and last place told me they can get me the part but it will take a couple of days, I´ve got a workaround for now..Pen Drive Linux..I´m able to get the web and stuff so that will do for now.

So far so good, we´ll be headed the Machu Picchu direction in the next couple of days.

The bus to Cusco

We decided on Tepsa, it was voted Peru´s nost safest bus and it was a hell of alot cheaper then Cruz Del Sur, they really do take security seriously, not only are you videotaped and scanned with a metal detector, but they also fingerprint you! The bus was miles better then any of the buses I´ve been on nearly a full cama (bed).

Well after 23 hours 45 minutes (Almost 24 hours) we arrived in Cusco a few hours behind schedule due to an avalanche that blocked the road, over 3 hours we waited while bulldozers cleared the road. The bus journey was the windiest I´ve ever been on and some poor kid was sick the entire trip, I really felt for him.

Eventually arrived in Cusco at an altitude of 3400 metres or thereabouts and even going up a set of stairs would leave you out of breath!

Tonight we ventured into the Irish pub as we were told it was a really good one..The Wild Rover, it was a nice break to get some Irish pub food, so a Chicken Curry and a Shepards pie were well deserved but we didn´t last past 9.30 as we are absolutely drained. The coca leaves and tea certainly help with the altitude.

I´ll try and get some sleep....my poor laptops harddrive died...shit happens!

Lima

Lima, what a lovely city..and well guarded too! The police around the government buildings are packing AK47s! How cool is that!

We bumped into a parade of some sort, not sure what it was about but it was cool to watch. The city is very nice and definately worth seeing...and I found a giant Guinea pig wandering the streets!

Tomorrow we head towards Cusco.. supposedly an 18 hour bus journey...Hmm
