New Years Eve - Sydney

New Years Eve Sydney = Best New Years ever..

We started from Rose Bay and boarded our Yacht , a few of us skeptical that the boat would be packed (but there was more then enough room) , there was 25 of us and another 9 from another group which I'm sure they got a shock when they saw the sheer amount of drink that was been taken onto the boat by us, probably enough to make a large elephant pass out!

We arrived at our destination in the harbour at 7ish and had a brilliant view of the fireworks right near the front of all the boats (which included what looked like an irish famine ship and a refugee boar)

9pm arrived and the mini fireworks display was kicked off (the kiddies one) there was 2 different displays one from the harbour bridge / opera house and one just across from us from a pontoon that were synced to go off at the same time, they certainly weren't Henry Street screamers!!

We saw a boat go by that tickets were advertised for $450 a head and it was absolutely crammed.

Midnight arrived and the display was amazing worth every penney our view was amazing and the fireworks were unbelievable - think Skyfest x 1,000,000,00!

Midnight Fireworks Video:

We were out until 2am but after 12 or so it's a blur! A once in a lifetime thing...

Not drunk at all...I swear

The Refugee Boat that got lost on the way to Christmas Island

The Police were keeping an eye on us!

Stephens Day

More rain.....Stayed in and had Mojitos

Friday, December 25, 2009

Yes it's December in Australia.......

Christmas Day: Can you believe the buses run EXTRA services on Christmas Day here!

Its was a very Irish affair, it was pissing rain all day! That was the beach striked off the list, we went to Laura and Jens for a Christmas roast, I was sceptical at first considering a vegetarian was cooking us Christmas Dinner, but the end result was A1, not to forget Tinas galiant effort for desert which included Apple Crumble and Banoffi Pie, the feedback on both was positive from all parties!

To summarise the day: Rain, Plenty of Food / Drink /Craic !

I'm engaged!

Tina's Birthday today so we had a bit of a party in her job and I didn't want to drink too much considering my plans for the evening! We went to Kingsleys on King Street, which is a beautiful steak restaurant near the harbour. My plan was to pop the question at the big Christmas tree at Martin Place on the way home to the appartment, my plans were nearly foiled twice, when Tina wanted to get a Taxi home but I managed to convince her the Tree was worth seeing :) ,which she agreed with when she saw it.

Second flaw in my plan was when I first got down on my knee and pretended to tie my shoe laces Tina done her usual wander off, so I had to pretend re-tie them again, at that point I put the ring in her hand and asked her the question 'Will you Marry me?'

She said 'Yes' by the way, completely unaware to what I had planned, Success!

Back to the appartment for a bottle of Moet I had her convinced I'd got it for New Years!

That concludes the summary of My Life sentence :D haha

Here's some pictures of the ring (no hand shots yet as we need to have it slightly resized):

Work T-shirt

Intersting T-Shirt I got from work, not sure if you'd actually survive walking down the street in Ireland with one considering the mess they've caused!

Movember Update - Please Help!!

So I'm into day 10 -

If I Raise over AU$1000 I'll keep the Mo going for the month of December!

Hi Guys,

I am growing a moustache this year for Movember. We all remember the time Flano went to The Comet with his Charlie Chaplin for a pint of Guinness back in the day! Lest we forget! :) Well I'm going to 'try' and grow an Orange County Alan Handlebar Moustache :D

It's a really good cause so I'd appreciate your help guys no matter how little, it all adds up!

I have decided to put down my razor for one month (November) and help raise awareness and funds for men’s health – specifically prostate cancer and depression in men. What many people don’t appreciate is that close to 3,000 men die of prostate cancer each year in Australia and one in eight men will experience depression in their lifetime - many of whom don’t seek help. Facts like these have convinced me I should get involved and I am hoping that you will support me.

To sponsor my Mo, you can either:

• Click this link http://au.movember.com/mospace/172037/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account
• Alternatively send me an email and I can arrange alternative means.

Movember is now in its sixth year and, to date, has achieved some pretty amazing results by working alongside The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCFA) and beyondblue: the national depression initiative. Check out further details at: http://au.movemberfoundation.com/research-and-programs.

If you are interested in following the progress of my Mo, click here http://au.movember.com/mospace/172037/. Also, http://au.movember.com has heaps of useful information.

Thank you

Surf Weekend - Seal Rocks

Myself and Paddy hit seals rocks for a bit of surfing this weekend. We got it for practically nothing so it was definitely something to mark off the list! A bus load of people from all sides of the world hit the waves. We hit the road on the Friday night and had a few drinks and banter on the bus (and more upon arrival)

First day wasn't too bad, the beginner boards are very heavy especially after coming out of the water, I did manage to stand up on the board a couple of times for a very brief time! It was a warm day and we had a couple of whale sightings in the distance..

Halloween night we hit the booze stiff after surfing around 6ish, I went as a cowboy, It was a good fun night but we were soon to regret the over indulgence!

Second day 7am we were up, suited and booted by 8:30 and on the hunt for the waves, stiff and hungover we weren't really feeling the surf vibe but I went in for a while, It was a VERY warm day (30 degrees) so alot of us ended up chilling on the beach..

....Stiff after the 2 days surfing, I pondered how people managed the 5 day camp!!
