1798 Monument - Waverley Cemetery

A couple of lads and myself headed to Waverley cemetery today (which is only a couple of Km's down the road from me ) to see the largest Monument in the world to the 1798 Rising, The Monument also beared engravings for the 1916 Rising and the 1981 Hunger Strikers. Its a pretty impressive structure.

Oz Snow Ski Trip - Day 2

Day 2: All of us pretty hungover today...but the show must go on! After breakfast the bus hit the road to the slopes and Tina retreated to the café while myself and Paddy hit the slopes. We hit the small but fast one to begin with and decided to hit one of the 'Blue run' slopes, maybe it was the drink still in our system but it was lunacy attempting to ski down this hill, it was like something you'd see on eurosport other people zooming past you! I must have fallen umpteen times on this hill but my claim to fame was doing half the hill on my back! I was skiing down the hill and I fell and went down the hill pretty quick with the ski's in the air! It was a mad hill full stop to attempt (see picture below) , anyway some guy told us a bit down the hill (when we were on the ground!) to go throught to the hill (Green run) across from it that wasn't as steep, we walked through the gap and ended up to our waist in snow! We managed our way through and didn't do much better on that one! - It must of taken us 20 minutes to get down which is possibility a record for the slowest descent!

After that episode myself and Paddy decided to see some of the views from the chairlifts before we hit the slopes again. Thankfuly none of use had any injuries & I escaped with boot gashes each side of my leg and a sore thumb from one of my many moves! A good weekend and highly recommended but after doing it I'm not too sure I could commit to a full ski holiday. It can be dangerous sport (we saw someone of the spinal boards that didn't look too hot!) and its alot of hard work!

The bus journey home wasn't too bad they through on a few DVD's so that killed the time and we arrived back around midnight. Just a quick plug and thanks to Doggie and the crew in OZSnow!

Myself and Paddy conqueor "Everest" (behind us).............with shite skiing! (actually paddy was quite decent!)

"Everest"

The Ski Boot rubbing left a nice gash each side on BOTH my legs!

A random Duck (I threw it in as my weekend away would not be complete without an animal pic!)
