Bolivian Amazon - Pampas Wetlands - Day 1

We flew this morning with Amazonas, it was certainly an experience, you could nearly touch the mountains from it. About 45 minutes later we arrived in Rurrenbaque, which is our first stop-off before we venture 3 hours down an unsurfaced road. Our group consisted off 5 Irish, 1 English and 2 German lads. When we arrived at the end of the road, we had to get a 3 hour boar trip to our ecolodge, but not too worry there was lots to see along the way.

We spotted a couple of monkeys, a red howler monkey, a toucan in the distance, a few eagles, some vultures, herons, turtles and some pink river dolphins. Our guide Jamie seemed to have the eye of the tiger when it came to spotting the wildlife. After we settled in we headed out to the sunset bar to watch the sunset and have a couple of beers while we were eaten alive by the mozzies, eaten alive is an understatement Tina was bitten through denim! These are ruthless feckers and there's loads of them.

We headed back to the lodge for some dinner and then went out looking for some alligators and caiman's...we had no luck for a long time and then suddenly 2 in quick succession appeared, a baby one and a fairly large one as well, they are easily spotted by there eyes when you shine a torch at them. We got back and hit the bed , we had a 4am rise this morning and it's been a long day!
