Miyajima...WHAT A PLACE

Today we headed to Hiroshima from Osaka a 500km or so journey...thats made short work of by the infamous bullet train! Travelling at speeds of 285kmph we done our journey in about one and a half hours. Once we arrive there we needed to take a train towards the JR Miyajima Ferry to where we were due to stay. We got lost en route to our accommodation, I went into the bakery to ask directions and out came bouncing one of the workers who walked up the road to show us the way...gotta love these people.
We arrived in the hostel and we weren't able to checkin until 4pm so we slung the bags in the corner and got the ferry over to Miyajima...what a place this is, it's got such character they've wild deer everywhere (they are friendly) and lots of interesting sights...after visiting the Torri Arch (the orange arch) Tina went to grab the map from her pocket and it had disappeared! One of the deers had stolen it, luckily the JR rail pass was safely zipped away as per advice from my previous workmate Matt Hamilton who also told me not to miss this place...GOOD ADVICE.

We went to the 5 storey pagoda and then up the hill to the Dashion Temple, very cool place and one of my absolute favourite places in 6 months of travel. We took a walk through the park and met a stag with his antlers still intact, he was grand we just kept to ourselves around him. When we got to the bottom again the tide was out so we could walk under the Torri arch, their was a heap of coins there and we stuck some on the arch, I was also previously told it was lucky to be able to walk up to the arch.

After a couple of hours on the beautiful Miyajima island I was all deered out and ready to chill for the night. Our hostel had some food Japanese food, myself and Tina not being keen seafood fans gave it a bash and we Had sushi with raw tuna and some oysters...probably my worst nightmare, BUT the sauce the oysters were in was delicious and they tasted lovely, the raw tuna was fine..it was no fillet steak but I finished my meal..There's a mix of nationalities in the hostel so we watched a film and had a few scoops! GOOD TIMES :)

Tomorrow we go to the A-Bomb building and Peace Memorial Museum
