Cambodia and the Airport Debacle....

We arrive in KL around midnight and had been banking on here to get a bite to eat we were soon to realise that KL airport was on lockdown for fogging or pesticide spraying for 3 hours! Great we had to sit outside and wait fr the airport to reopen. Got our flight at 7am and I was absolutely knackered, I was awake for most of the night in the airport ad only started to go asleep 20 minutes before hand..Tina on the other hand had been curled up in a nice ball on our luggage.

We arrived in Cambodia, the visa process is easy on arrival we fill a form hand them a picture and US$20 and viola 30 day visa issued. We arrived to a place we had read about on Trip advisor but that was full so we walked around the corner to the river front and had a look in this nice hotel, at reception there was a middle aged American couple and they asked us were we staying, we told them we might be depending on room, they told us it was lovely and they had extended their stay by 3 days, so needless to say if the yanks are pleased with somewhere it must be good. For the minor sum of $25 for the room we got a balcony view of river and all amenities, we were just happy to get a bit of shut eye and after a few hours we went around to see the town.

After our long wander we got our US dollars, we were told not to bother with Riel as it pretty much monopoly money, you will get change in $ and Riel for smaller priced sums of money. As Cambodia is a coinless country I have a wad of money in my wallet about half an inch thick (which is worth about $3) which makes it very hard to close my wallet!

We went for some evening drinks (shock horror) and lets say for 4 pints and 4 cocktails worked out at about 4 euros! It was well entertaining watching the tuk tuks and bikes go by down the main road, you never knew what you were going to see! Everything from entire families, kitchen sink and dog...to an Elephant just wandering through traffic. I think I'm going to like this place!

We met a tuk tuk driver by the name of 'Lucky' who asked us did we want a tour and I asked him what can he do for us, he'll bring us shooting, killing fields, S21 museum and Russian Markets for $15 I asked him for his number and told him I'd give him a call in the morning.
