Pearl Market - Beijing....Utter Chaos

22nd January

We didn't see any sights today and we're absolutely knackered! We headed out to Pearl Market and talk about haggling, you ask for the price of a wallet they'll tell you it's 30euro...I managed to get it down to 4...but you need to stick to your guns..they seriously highball the prices here probably in an effort to lure an unsuspecting tourist into a false sense of security..We had an idea what we should be paying for most the stuff here. We didn't buy much here but managed to get a Chinese kite (for Snoop to destroy), A Chinese stamp with my name on it (I know!..one for the drawer),  A leather wallet (well made), A panda christmas decoration and a Victoronox Swiss Army Bag (A good copy) which she wanted 50 euro for, we got her down to 8euro and she was something else to haggle with! She said "I want 3 figures for it"...so I put a decimal point on the calculator. We left here exhausted,...but if your not well versed in the art of haggling they will eat you alive in here!

I had a look at the copywatches here and they were pretty shit to be honest so I passed on them..Funnily enough I saw someone selling a 400gb USB key so I had to go over and wind him up, he mumbled something to me in Chinese..but I got an even greater laugh when I saw a 1 Terabyte USB key..Sony Brand or thats what was on the pack, he plugged into his machine to show me and it displayed 999GB which is wrong for a start as it should be alot lower then that (base 10). I had a laugh with him about selling hacked keys...having bought one of these dodgy 1GB keys on eBay a few years ago I know only too well what happens when you reach the advertised limit....DATA CORRUPTION :(

Went back to the same spot as last night and got 2 massive dishes (the portions here are unreal), Tina got some chicken dish with the head on the plate (see picture).

The Chinese authorities seem to trying to protect IP over here but you can get pretty much anything you want under and over the counter here.
