Langkawi Day 3

Convinced Tina into getting on the back of a scooter and off we went to explore the island. There's no better way to see the island and the rental woks out less then 5 euro for 24 hours, an added advantage is the roads are relatively quiet here also.

We saw loads of interesting thing: 20 Monkeys just sat at the side of the road, buffalo / bull, the paddy fields, rainforest. We went to the rain forest and they had an animal farm which consisted off a couple of deer and 1 rabbit hutch.

The best things you see is driving around the villages outer areas, entire families on a scooter or a 10 year old driving down the road on a scooter and him barely able to see over the handle bars! Really worth doing, but as anything it comes with a risk, we saw a tourist that made a nice face for himself when he came off his bike on a bend.....Slow and steady wins the race!

Langkawi Day 2

Went to Beach and chilled out for the day, we watched the sunset for a while and went out with the lads again, the bar we were in closed early so we went on elsewhere, when leaving the barman got us a "Taxi" which was this Malaysian guy in a supped up Proton (non-taxi), funny thing is on the way to the bar he came up to a 'Polis' checkpoint and done a U turn and took us a different way to the bar, he waited outside the bar for 4 hours for us and dropped us back. A really nice guy he gave us his card and told us to call if we needed o be dropped anywhere.

Langkawi

Arrived off the long choppy ferry to Langkawi. The ferry stunk of sick from the choppy seas, including one person pucking all over the luggage racks, thankfully our bags weren't in the line of fire! We arrived to the main strip and beach area by btaxi to a decent p[lace that got rave reviews on Trip Advisor, unfortunately it was all booked up. We went with an Irish and a Scottish guy we'd met on the ferry and went to find some accommodation, some the shitholes we saw were unbelievable, if you want the heroin den sheik / squatters hole feel then Geckos is your only man (and recommended once again by Lonely Planet WTF!!!) Others arachnophobia came to mind there was loads of spiders that were as obvious as day, if there missing those, what else are they missing! We stayed at a place on the beach and headed out for a bite with the 2 lads and then a night of carnage on the drink!

Langkawi so far hands down beats Penang for charm and the real Malaysian experience.
